(AmericanProsperity.com) – Liberals are putting the legal system to the test as 14 Democrat-led states launched a lawsuit against Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.
The left’s latest attack is aimed at the Trump administration’s efforts to streamline government operations.
The lawsuit was filed by Democratic attorneys general who claim that the authority granted to Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is unconstitutional.
The lawsuit read, “President Trump has delegated virtually unchecked authority to Mr. Musk without proper legal authorization from Congress and without meaningful supervision of his activities.”
“As a result, he has transformed a minor position that was formerly responsible for managing government websites into a designated agent of chaos without limitation and in violation of the separation of powers,” it continues.
These liberal states seek to prevent Musk from changing government funding and making personnel decisions that could cut the federal workforce.
President Trump’s bold move to create DOGE without congressional approval has ruffled the establishment’s feathers.
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez criticized the president for empowering Musk while bypassing a Republican-controlled Congress.
“Move fast and breaking things may work in Silicon Valley for a tech company, It’s not good governance and it’s unconstitutional,” Torrez stated.
“We are asking the court to invalidate his directives and actions and to issue a restraining order,” remarked Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
The lawsuit argues that the president violated the Constitution’s Appointments Clause by granting Musk extensive powers without Senate confirmation.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did not mince words when responding to this lawsuit.
She stated, “The White House will continue to fight these battles in court, and we expect to be vindicated.”
Despite these legal challenges, President Trump continues to support Musk and DOGE, recognizing their crucial role in reducing the federal government’s size and cost.
“We have to make our government smaller, more efficient, more effective and a lot less expensive, and we could find a trillion dollars. But we’re being hindered by courts where they file in certain courts where it’s very hard to win and a judge will stop us,” the president said.
