Alleged Assassin Claims Innocence – Will Anyone Believe Him?
(AmericanProsperity.com) – In the wake of a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion suggesting a majority of conservative Supreme Court Justices might overturn Roe v. Wade, strong and sometimes violent protests have broken out nationwide. One California man traveled cross-country seeking out Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Authorities arrested him after he called 911 claiming to be suicidal and because he had thoughts of killing the Justice. On Wednesday, June 22, he pleaded not guilty to attempted assassination.
Nicholas John Roske, 26, answered questions from Judge Ajmel Quereshi before entering his plea. Roske had allegedly hoped to protect abortion rights by killing Justice Kavanaugh. When he arrived outside Kavanaugh’s Maryland home on June 8, two US Marshals charged with providing the Justice security noticed him.

The young man panicked at the sight of law enforcement at the scene, walked away, and apparently called his sister. Shortly thereafter, Roske called 911 to report he was suicidal and had a weapon. During that conversation, he also told the operator he wanted to kill Kavanaugh.
Police reached the scene while he was still on the 911 call. Upon searching his backpack, they found burglary tools, pepper spray, zip ties, a tactical knife, and a Glock-17 pistol. Officers arrested Roske and took him into custody.
Following the arraignment, Judge Quereshi remanded Roske to custody until trial and set a date for a jury trial on August 23. The Californian could face life in prison if convicted.
