AOC Slams Schumer: ‘Outrage and Betrayal’ (Video)

(AmericanProsperity.com) – The Democrat Party is crumbling down as liberal House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez publicly attacks Chuck Schumer for joining Republicans to avert a damaging government shutdown.

The socialist “Squad” leader expressed “outrage and betrayal” after the Senate Minority Leader backed a GOP spending bill.

“There is a deep sense of outrage and betrayal, And this is not just about progressive Democrats. This is across the board — the entire party,” Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, said.

She justified her attacks on a lack of protections against President Donald Trump’s plans to streamline federal bureaucracy.

The bill funds federal operations through September 2025. It does not include the restrictions Democrats desperately wanted on President Trump and Elon Musk’s promised efforts to reshape federal agencies.

AOC did not mince words when attacking her fellow New York Democrat. “I think it is a huge slap in the face, and I think that there’s a wide sense of betrayal,” she said.

Her words reveal just how deep the divisions within the Democrat Party have become over legislative strategy after a resounding defeat in last year’s elections.

The fight centers on Schumer’s willingness to support legislation that conservatives favor.

The bill proposes a $7 billion cut in government spending, reducing waste in non-defense funding while increasing defense spending.

These priorities align with President Trump’s agenda but infuriate progressives who want ever-expanding federal programs.

Senator Mark Kelly also opposed Schumer’s decision:

“I cannot vote for the Republican plan to give unchecked power to Donald Trump and Elon Musk. I told Arizonans I’d stand up when it was right for our state and our country, and this is one of those moments.”

In defending his decision, Schumer argued a government shutdown would be a worse outcome.

“A shutdown would give Donald Trump and Elon Musk carte blanche to destroy vital government services at a significantly faster rate than they can right now,” Schumer claimed.

House Democrats are in open revolt, urging their Senate colleagues to oppose the cloture vote.

Instead, they have proposed a 30-day clean extension, hoping to buy time for negotiations that might protect their big-government priorities from President Trump’s efficiency plans.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, another far-left “Squad” member, joined the attack on Schumer, demanding “Democratic senators should stick together” rather than work with Republicans.

Meanwhile, Rep. Joe Morelle warned Senate Democrats that they would “rue the day they made this decision.”

Senator John Fetterman broke with his party’s radical wing, supporting Schumer’s position.

“We don’t agree with what’s been sent to us but, you know, if we withhold our votes, that is going to shut the government down,” Fetterman said.

By doing so, the senator showed rare pragmatism that has become increasingly uncommon in today’s Democrat Party.

The public fight between AOC and Schumer represents a significant crack in Democrat unity at a critical time for the party.

While conservatives welcome Democrat infighting, the stopgap bill’s passage would test the left’s crumbling unity as it requires Democrat support to clear the Senate and avoid a shutdown.
