AOC’s Livestream Sets Record

AOC's Livestream Sets Record

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Connecting with all types of voters is an ever-changing landscape in our modern world. But, House Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilham Omar (D-MN) streamed themselves playing a video game together and set a new record for viewers on Twitch, Amazon’s live-streaming service.

On the evening of Tuesday, October 20, AOC began playing Among Us, a popular video game on the site. At one point, as many as 440,000 viewers watched her play, making it the third-largest live stream Twitch ever had. AOC used this creative move to rally her supporters to vote:

Earlier this year, AOC proposed banning the US Military from recruiting on video game sites like Twitch, saying these sites “are not education outreach programs.” The irony of her quote is now clear, as she used her presence on the site for voting education outreach.

Every vote counts this election, and many Democrats have found creative ways to connect with voters that, in the past, may have been harder to get in touch with. AOC’s new record shows us that many Americans were excited to have a politician coming into their virtual world.
