(AmericanProsperity.com) – Former Republican Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson officially launched his 2024 presidential campaign on Wednesday, following his official announcement to run for the GOP nomination a couple of weeks ago. Experts believe he’s one of the weakest Republican candidates since the party’s primaries will feature political figures like former President Donald Trump and former South Carolina Governor and US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
During a speech in Bentonville, Arkansas, the former state Governor said he’s officially announcing his campaign to become the US president. He also blasted President Joe Biden over the way he has been handling the economy and touting his successful economic performance during the time he was a governor.
In his speech, Hutchinson claimed that every family in the US has been struggling because of President Biden’s economic failure, pointing out that he’ll know “how to balance a budget” because of his experience on this matter. The former governor also pushed back some of Trump’s stances and remarks by promising that he will never defund the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which is something that Trump recently called for.
Additionally, he said that on foreign policy the country will stop taking an isolationist path and will recover its position as the world’s superpower. Moreover, he explained that the Republican Party needs political leaders that understand how important democracy is for everyone’s freedom, as he said that the United States has always been a “democracy’s lighthouse.”
Hutchinson, who has always been a so-called “never-Trumper” and has even called on him to drop out of the race, said during his speech that the United States doesn’t need another race between President Biden and Trump. In fact, the former Governor has said on previous occasions that the worst thing that the Republican Party can suffer is to see Trump win the nomination, as he claims he would be the weaker candidate against President Biden.
