Authorities Charge Southern Poverty Law Center Attorney With Domestic Terrorism

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Atlanta authorities charged with domestic terrorism an attorney of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) named Thomas Webb Jurgens on Monday, following a violent incident at a music festival where he and other left-wing activists violently rioted against the building of a new police training site in the city. Jurgens, who is listed on LinkedIn as a staff attorney for the SPLC, was charged with other 23 rioters who were all dressed in black and were accused of attacking police officers on Sunday evening with Molotov cocktails and different types of objects, including rocks and bricks.

According to the Atlanta Police, law enforcement officers arrested over 30 protesters after using non-lethal force alternatives in response. The violent riot against the new police facility resulted in the destruction of numerous pieces of construction equipment.

Since December 2022, numerous left-wing activists have been charged with the same criminal offense as Jurgens for violently rioting against the police facility, with many protesters calling it “Cop City.” Protests by Left-wing activists against the facility in Atlanta have been taking place since 2020, with some illegally occupying the public forest land until police officers removed them.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told Fox News that the violent incident started around 5:30 p.m. Sunday when dozens of protesters left the South River Music Festival to riot against the new police training site. “This was a very violent attack that occurred, this evening very violent attack,” Schierbaum said, pointing out that the incident was a coordinated attack against police officers and that such violent actions will face consequences.

On his LinkedIn account, Jurgens says he’s a graduate of the University of Georgia, a former assistant public defender in Orlando and a staff attorney for the SPLC’s Economic Justice Project. While the civil rights organization is meant to monitor alleged hate and extremist organizations across the United States, numerous analysts have claimed that the SPLC has a left-wing bias and a lack of transparency that makes it difficult to trust.
