(AmericanProsperity.com) – An entire community has been left with a feeling of sorrow and loss after the search for missing pilot Michael Martin was suspended in rural Nevada.

Despite using drones, helicopters, and planes, authorities have deemed survival “unlikely” and halted recovery efforts due to harsh weather and terrain.

65-year-old Martin disappeared earlier this year after departing from North Las Vegas Airport in his Piper PA-32-300.

The last radar contact placed him near Tonopah and Round Mountain, triggering a search operation a couple of days later.

Multiple agencies participated in the search efforts, including the Nevada National Guard and Civil Air Patrol.

A Game Warden recently located the crash site near Mount Jefferson, approximately 50 miles from Tonopah.

However, authorities have taken the heartbreaking decision to abandon the mission due to insurmountable problems.

“Based on photos of the crashed plane, there would be no chance of survival,” stated the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials acknowledged that “hundreds of man-hours have been committed to locating the pilot and aircraft with no results.”

Desperation grows as each day passes without access to the wreckage that might hold the answers Martin’s family and friends desperately need.

“We are desperate to find him and bring him back home to us. He is a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, and we will not rest until he is found,” Martin’s family stated.

Officials have cited rugged terrain and harsh weather as reasons for halting the search.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has stated, “As of today, we have exhausted all possibilities of reaching the crash site at this time to complete a recovery.”

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information that could help locate Michael Martin.
