(AmericanProsperity.com) – It seems socialist Senator Bernie Sanders is losing the plot as he took President-elect Donald Trump’s joke about making Canada the 51st state seriously.
During a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Mar-a-Lago, Trump joked about annexing Canada as the 51st U.S. state.
This lighthearted remark was made in the context of tough trade negotiations and quickly caught Sanders’s attention.
Pressing on the joke, Trump humorously suggested dividing Canada into two states based on political leanings.
Sanders, known for admiring Canada’s government-run healthcare system, seized the opportunity to push his socialist healthcare agenda.
He wasted no time in responding to Trump’s jest by saying he liked the idea.
Sanders asked, “Does that mean that we can adopt the Canadian health care system and guarantee health care to all, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and spend 50% less per capita on health care?
Trump has suggested that Canada become the 51st state in our union.
Does that mean that we can adopt the Canadian health care system and guarantee health care to all, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and spend 50% less per capita on health care?
I'm all for it. https://t.co/Nwkk7lykXd

It is worth mentioning that Canada’s healthcare system, often praised by liberals as a model for the U.S., is plagued by long wait times, rationed care and a lack of innovation.
Adopting such a system would likely decrease the quality of care and increase government control over Americans’ health decisions.
Sanders’ enthusiastic response to adopting Canada’s healthcare system should serve as a wake-up call to all Americans who value their freedom and quality of care.
His “Medicare for All” proposal, which closely mirrors the Canadian system, would lead to massive tax increases, longer wait times and government bureaucrats making health decisions.
