(AmericanProsperity.com) – The Biden Administration has taken a new step towards combating climate change. They have just banned plastic cutlery in the federal government in order to “phase out” single-use plastics and target plastic pollution.
President Biden announced the order, stating that they are taking aim at the climate crisis, and he demanded every federal agency to respond with “all hands on deck.”
Said The White House, “The President is committed to taking ambitious actions… to end plastic pollution and is calling upon the global community to do the same, with the goal to reduce the global production and consumption of virgin plastics.”
With this motion, they are looking to remove single use plastics from food service operations by 2027 and from all federal operations by 2035.
Some lawmakers laughed at the initiative, calling Biden’s plans “laughable” and “absurd.”
Sen. Mike Rounds criticized the ban, saying, “The world’s on fire and he’s worried about plastic forks.”
Many have said that this is not a main concern that needs to be addressed and that his policy is “ridiculous.”
Sen. James Lanford said, “It’s more messaging and ridiculousness, and it’s a direct shot to that whole industry.” He continued, “It’s also clearly not where everybody is. It’s going to raise costs for a lot of folks so it seems to be just irrelevant on deficit issues.”
Some lawmakers believe that the ban is intended more for “government workplaces” and “military bases” instead of for all of the federal government or agencies.
