(AmericanProsperity.com) – The Biden Administration has announced its support for the short-term government funding proposal that will help to reduce the chances of a government shutdown ahead of the election.
The White House addressed its support and applauded the funding bill in its statement from the Office of Management and Budget. They stated that the bill would allot more time to Congress “to complete full-year funding bills later this year that deliver for America’s national defense, veterans, seniors, children, and working families, and address urgent needs for the American people, including for communities recovering from disaster.”
The statement was not endorsed by House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Democrats criticized the Republicans for not including additional funding for disaster relief, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Small Business Administration.
The statement said, “The Administration is deeply disappointed that congressional Republicans continue to block critical funding requested by the Administration to avoid severe disruptions to several critical Government services, including effectively ceasing operations of the Small Business Administration disaster loan program later this fall.”
Johnson introduced the new bill after his original proposal failed to pass to the GOP house. It will help to fund the government through the end of December and it doesn’t include any part of the SAVE Act within it.
This particular Bill goes against Donald Trump’s suggestion of shutting down the government if the bill didn’t include the SAVE Act within it. Within this bill, there is also over two hundred million dollars in funding for the Secret Service, whose resources and funding have been in the spotlight since the attempted assassinations of Donald Trump.
Congress and the White House have until the end of September to approve the bill and sign it into law.
