(AmericanProsperity.com) – President-elect Donald Trump is gearing up for a showdown with the Biden administration over federal workers’ remote work policies.

In a bold move, Trump has vowed to challenge what he calls a “ridiculous” five-year telework agreement, setting the stage for a major overhaul of government efficiency.

Trump criticized the deal between the Biden administration and the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) without hesitation.

The agreement covers around 42,000 Social Security Administration employees and allows hybrid telework through 2029.

“We’re talking about a friendly takeover, a friendly transition as they like to say, this is a friendly transition, and it is. But there are two events that took place that I think are very terrible,” Trump stated.

The president-elect also declared his intention to take legal action. “One is that if people don’t come back to work, come back into the office, they’re going to be dismissed, and somebody in the Biden administration gave a five-year waiver of that.”

“So that for five years, people don’t have to come back into the office. It involved 49,000 people for five years. They don’t have to go. They just signed this thing. It’s ridiculous. So it was like a gift to a union, and we’re going to obviously be in court to stop it,” Trump added.

Trump has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

This duo is tasked with slashing government waste and improving efficiency, so ending remote work is a key priority.

Musk and Ramaswamy are not pulling any punches. They have made it clear that federal employees who refuse to return to the office will face dismissal.

Their strategy is to use the end of remote work to encourage voluntary layoffs and trim the bloated federal workforce.

“Requiring federal employees to come to the office five days a week would result in a wave of voluntary terminations that we welcome: If federal employees don’t want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn’t pay them for the COVID-era privilege of staying home,” the DOGE leaders declared.

Meanwhile, AFGE President Everett Kelley vowed to fight back against Trump’s plans as he claims that only 10% of federal workers are remote.

Meanwhile, Sen. Joni Ernst has thrown her support behind the DOGE team, pledging to work with them to reverse Biden’s telework deal.

As the transition of power approaches, the Trump administration is clearly serious about draining the swamp and putting America First.

With potential savings of $2 trillion on the line, hardworking taxpayers can look forward to a leaner, more efficient government under Trump’s leadership.
