Biden Claims China Warned Putin Against Nuke Use

( – US President Joe Biden said on July 13 that the Chinese regime warned Russian President Vladimir Putin against executing a nuclear attack against Ukraine. The alleged warning by Beijing comes a couple of weeks after Putin said it deployed nuclear equipment to Belarus, which dictator Alexander Lukashenko confirmed.

During a press conference in the Finnish capital Helsinki, reporters asked the commander-in-chief if there were concerns about Putin escalating the war after the mutiny by the Wagner mercenary group. President Biden responded that while “you never know,” he didn’t think there was a “real prospect” of Putin using nukes in the war. He added that even when Putin would like to take more drastic steps, many nations around the world have already warned him against doing this. The president then said one of these nations was China, which allegedly told the Kremlin “Don’t go there.”

President Biden and Chinese dictator Xi Jinping last spoke in November 2022 in the Indonesian city of Bali during a G20 summit. Different reports said that was the first moment when Washington and Beijing expressed their concerns about the Ukraine war.

Recently, top officials from the Biden administration met with their Chinese counterparts in Beijing. The first case was US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on June 19, raising controversy as he said in a press conference that Washington no longer supported “Taiwan’s Independence.” The latest one took place on July 9 with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who became viral after a video showed her bowing to her counterpart. In both of these trips, one of the main topics of discussion was the Ukraine-Russia armed conflict.

President Biden traveled to Helsinki to meet with his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto after attending the NATO summit in the Lithuanian city of Vilnius. The event was a setback for the Kremlin as the members reiterated their military support for Ukraine. Additionally, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the new membership of Sweden after reaching a deal with Turkey’s government.
