(AmericanProsperity.com) – Moments before the Minnesota jury delivered a guilty verdict to Derek Chauvin, the police officer who killed George Floyd, a Columbus, Ohio police officer shot and killed a 15-year old girl who was charging another female with a knife. While this is a heartbreaking incident, the media and the White House have already begun to use it to push their own agenda despite the provided evidence.
Columbus Police Are Called to the Scene
On Tuesday, April 20, a currently undisclosed person called the Columbus Police department and reported that there were females threatening them. Officers were dispatched to the scene. According to the released body camera footage, the officer quickly exited his car upon arrival and saw Ma’Khia Bryant charging towards another girl with a knife, and shot her multiple times.
Paramedics took Bryant to a nearby hospital where she died of her injuries. The girl Ma’Khia appeared to be threatening was taken by police to begin an investigation into the incident.
Psaki Addresses Reporters About Ma’Khia Bryant
On Wednesday, April 21, Spectrum News reporter Taylor Popielarz asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the White House’s knowledge of the death of Ma’Khia Bryant. Psaki responded that Biden had received notice of the incident and called it “tragic.”
After expressing her condolences to the family, Psaki used this incident to speak about “police violence” and its effect on minorities like Bryant. She added that the Biden administration is “working to address systemic racism and implicit bias.” However, Psaki ignored the fact that the officer in question likely saved a girl’s life tonight by discharging his weapon in a split-second decision.
Columbus Police Quickly Released Video Footage
Ma’Khia Bryant’s family was quick to speak out against police, saying that she was trying to defend herself during the altercation. The quick calls for protests in the city are likely why the Columbus Police Department made the body camera footage of the incident public the same evening.
Anytime a young person is killed, it’s heartbreaking. But, as always, all facts must be considered and due process given to those involved. While there will be a full investigation into this case, it appears the officer in question saved a girl from being stabbed, and for that, many people are thankful.
