(AmericanProsperity.com) – Senate Republicans are voicing apprehension concerning Joe Biden’s nominee for Vice Chair for supervision at the Federal Reserve — and it isn’t just about party affiliation. Sarah Bloom Raskin’s nomination is problematic because she is the person who pursued Lt. General Michael Flynn’s unmasking back in 2016.
Raskin was married to Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who was part of President Trump’s second impeachment proceedings as a House Impeachment Manager. She also held the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury position under the Obama administration when she requested the unmasking of General Flynn.
The definition of “unmasking” is the disclosure of veiled identities and how intelligence agencies treat American citizens who become involved in foreign surveillance. In General Flynn’s situation, his conversation with a former Russian ambassador was recorded and released to the public.

A list of over a dozen Obama administration officials signed the request to unmask Flynn, including disgraced former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power, and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Then-Attorney General William Barr and acting Director of Office of the Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell declassified the names of the unmasking officials. Senators Ron Johnson and Charles Grassley later made them public.
In their remarks, the pair said the American people had a right to know and that the controversial unmasking was crucial to understanding what happened during the Russia Collusion investigation.
Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) called Raskin’s rhetoric troubling during a January 28 interview on Bloomberg TV. Hagerty worries Raskin will conflate financial regulations to achieve questionable political goals.
