(AmericanProsperity.com) – Since the beginning of our nation, family farms have driven much of our agriculture and food chain needs, as well as supplying millions of jobs to Americans. But, news is now spreading about the man who now owns the most farmland in the United States: Bill Gates.
On January 11, The Land Report’s Eric O’Keefe uncovered the secretive path that led to Bill and Melinda Gates becoming the top farmland owners in America. For years, they’ve been purchasing enormous tracts of rich farmland, from Washington State all the way to Florida. Their latest purchase was a 14,500-acre farm in Eastern Washington for around $171 million.

However, many Americans, including professor Anelyse Weiler, are wary of this sneaky investing the Microsoft billionaire is doing:
Bill Gates, the fourth richest person in the world, is now the top private farmland owner in the United States. And he's not the only billionaire investing in farmland. The consolidation of farmland ownership matters immensely for food sovereignty: https://t.co/kndFUM2ifm

The reasoning for the Gates’ immense acquisition of the farmland is still unclear. But, given Bill Gates’ often odd hobbies, ideas, and interests, it’s unlikely that he has plans for sustainable family farms on his new property.
