Boston Bomber Ordered to Give Stimulus Check to Victims

Boston Bomber Ordered to Give Stimulus Check to Victims

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, known as the Boston Bomber, spent thousands of dollars on his family for gifts, books, and support. He currently has just under $4,000 in his inmate trust account. But, while he’s been paying thousands for his family, the Boston Bomber hasn’t spent much toward what he owes in victim restitution.

In 2013, Tsarnaev and his brother set off pressure cookers they modified into bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The explosion injured over 250 people and killed three, including an 8-year-old boy. Tsarnaev’s brother died in a shootout with police, but Tsarnaev is serving a life sentence in prison.

The Boston Bomber owes $101 million to survivors and their families but has only paid around $2,200. Prosecutors believe he should have to hand over his COVID-19 relief fund to the victims of the bombing.

Federal prosecutors want convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to use a $1,400 COVID-19 stimulus payment he received as well as other money held in his inmate trust account to help pay the millions of dollars he was ordered to pay his victims.https://t.co/ikoTqil0q1

Prosecutors mentioned the United States’ responsibility to collect victim restitution, adding information of the lien on the bomber’s belongings, including his inmate account. They asserted that the $1,400 Tsarnaev received as part of the coronavirus relief fund should go to his victims instead. Prosecutors added that the request was more than reasonable, especially given his spending spree on his siblings rather than prioritizing paying his victims back.

The Boston Bomber has been on and off death row, with the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments about reinstating Tsarnaev’s death sentence. Since his imprisonment, the Boston Bomber has sued the prison that houses him for $250,000 due to alleged discriminatory actions.

Maybe he’ll win the lawsuit and be able to provide a substantial sum of what he owes his victims in restitution.
