(AmericanProsperity.com) – A shocking betrayal has come to light as former U.S. soldier Jack Danaher Molloy faces charges for attempting to join the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah.
Molloy, a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, is accused of traveling to Lebanon and Syria in 2024.
He had the clear intention of joining Hezbollah, an organization designated as a foreign terrorist group by the U.S. government.
His actions represent a grave betrayal of the oath he once took to defend America against all enemies.

Additionally, Molloy lied to the FBI about his intentions to join Hezbollah upon returning to the U.S.
U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan firmly stated, “As alleged, Jack Molloy, an avowed adherent of Hizballah harboring deep-seated animus against Jews, took many steps over a period of months—at home and abroad—in his effort to join and fight for this deadly foreign terrorist organization.”
“This case is yet another sobering reminder of the threat of radicalized violence against Americans,” he added. “And while the defendant appears to have worked hard to achieve his terrorist goals, today’s charges demonstrate that the resolve of our office and our partners in law enforcement is stronger.”
The severity of Molloy’s alleged crimes is reflected in the potential consequences he faces.
He could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for the material support charge and up to eight years for false statement charges. He could also be ordered to pay a $250,000 fine.
These penalties send a clear message that the justice system will not tolerate those who seek to align themselves with America’s enemies.
This case highlights the ongoing threat of terrorism and the need for increased vigilance in national security efforts.
It follows a recent ISIS-related attack in New Orleans, further underscoring the importance of strong counterterrorism measures to protect American citizens.
FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek also stepped in to address the situation.
He said, “The FBI’s number one priority is to protect the American people from both domestic and international terrorist threats.”
“To achieve that end, the FBI will leverage the entirety of our resources, partnerships, and all applicable laws to bring to justice anyone who seeks to support or aid any foreign terror organizations, especially groups as deadly as Hizballah,” Rojek concluded.
