This Democrat City’s Police Force Is Dying At SHOCKING Rates
(AmericanProsperity.com) – Police undoubtedly have an extremely stressful job. While many people are quick to dehumanize our heroes in blue, they’re still very much human and susceptible to the same feelings as everyone else. Sometimes, the stress becomes too much to handle, leading to depression, PTSD and, unfortunately, suicides. Chicago has seen three officers take their lives since July 1.

The Ruderman Family Foundation conducted a study on the mental health of first responders in 2018 and found that the public servants were much more likely to die by their own hands than in the line of duty. Police officers are specifically three times more likely to die by suicide than their job. The startling statistic may be easy to overlook for some departments, but in Chicago, it’s becoming a serious problem.
Local news station WGN reported on a police sergeant who had recently taken his own life. The agency noted the officer was found in critical condition and taken to a hospital, where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The officer’s death came just days after another officer also committed suicide.
Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown has been the center of criticism stemming from the three deaths. Brown has been canceling employees’ days off, claiming the practice has been common for decades. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the President of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 7, John Catanzara disagrees, calling Brown a “liar.”
Could there be a connection between the suicides and Brown’s practice of canceling days off? Perhaps the officers requested the time to reground and compose themselves, instead Brown forced them to work and drove them over the edge.
