Children’s Hospital Makes Dangerous Gender Claim
(AmericanProsperity.com) – The debate over whether children know if they are gay or transgender when they are young has raged for years among medical professionals and activists alike. Recently, Boston Children’s Hospital came under fire for a video it shared about the issue. The medical center has now issued a warning to its staff.
In a now-deleted video titled, “When does a child know they’re transgender?” Dr. Jeremi Carswell, the director of the hospital’s Gender Multispecialty Service, made a claim some observers believe is outrageous. She said that kids often know they are transgender from “the moment that they have any ability to express themselves.” The physician went on to say that parents have told her that they believe their kids “knew from the minute they were born.”
Carswell went on to say that some of the signs the small children exhibited were “refusing […] a haircut or standing to urinate” as well as “trying on siblings’ clothing” and playing with toys for the “opposite gender.”

Twitter users called the doctor out, saying she was an activist, not a physician. Another accused her of promoting gender norms while advocating for the opposite.
According to NBC News, Boston Children’s Hospital released a statement via email claiming it had received a large number of “threats of violence toward” its staff. But the notice went on to say the center was “proud to be home to the first pediatric and adolescent transgender health program” in America.
