China FURIOUS After U.S. Navy Does This
(AmericanProsperity.com) – Several countries surrounding the South China Sea declare parts of the waterway as their own, sometimes with overlap causing problems. Despite that, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) lays claim to the entire South China Sea, which has brought about issues more than once. The most current incident occurred when a US destroyer sailed through the area, drawing the communist country’s ire.
The CCP recently stated it had deterred a US destroyer it insisted was illegally sailing in territorial waters. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the Chinese military’s official name, contended that the USS Benfold’s latest operation near the Paracel Islands was an effort from Washington to increase tensions and undermine peace and stability in the region.

However, according to a statement from the US Navy’s 7th Fleet, the warship didn’t do anything wrong, asserting it was conducting a Freedom of Navigation exercise. The statement added it’s America’s goal to protect “every nation’s right to fly, sail, and operate” anywhere that “international law allows.” The 7th Fleet further expressed that nothing China says will prevent them from doing so.
Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Taiwan, and the Philippines each maintain territories in the South China Sea. Yet, the CCP imagines all of it to be their own, even going as far as to build artificial islands in the area. Was the US out of line? Or is China overreacting?
