Chuck Schumer Comes Down With COVID-19 During a Busy Work Week

Top Democrat DIAGNOSED – Will It Stall Biden’s Agenda?

( – The CDC claims that two-thirds of Americans are completely vaccinated. Still, the vaccine and boosters don’t guarantee protection from COVID-19, and many people still contract the virus. For example, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) recently tested positive for COVID-19 just before the Senate returned from recess for a busy week.

According to the Associated Press, Justin Goodman, spokesman for Senator Schumer, announced in a statement on July 10 that the Democratic leader tested positive for COVID-19, adding he’s fully vaccinated and has received boosters. Goodman noted Schumer would follow CDC guidelines and quarantine for a week but continue to work from home.

The spokesman assured Schumer’s Senate colleagues that even though the majority leader couldn’t physically appear in the Senate because of COVID-19, he would make his presence felt through virtual meetings and his phone.

It’s a busy week for the upper Congressional chamber, but Democrats are coming off of a two-week recess short-handed because they’re missing Schumer, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) who’s recovering from a broken hip and surgery, and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) who also contracted COVID-19 and is in quarantine. Midterms are putting pressure on the Democratic party as their majority in the House is slim and they’re at a slight deficit in the Senate at the moment because of this.
