(AmericanProsperity.com) – Just like a movie scene straight out of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 horror film, The Birds, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida received a high volume of phone calls from distressed drivers saying dozens of “white doves” were wreaking havoc at a busy exit ramp on an interstate freeway.

Concerned drivers say birds flew at them and obstructed their view as they attempted to exit I-95 onto the International Speedway Boulevard exit. The local sheriff’s department had to close the exit ramp for about three hours after more than 100 homing pigeons fell off a truck and wouldn’t move from the area.
To make matters worse, it was nighttime when the incident occurred, and the pigeons would fly and scatter when lights from passing cars would scare them. In a collected effort, state troopers, animal service workers, and sheriff’s deputies managed to trap 73 of the homing pigeons, which they took to a nearby animal shelter in Volusia County.
The container had no company identification on it, and the birds weren’t banded, making it challenging to find the owners. As a result, the birds remain in the custody of the shelter.
