(AmericanProsperity.com) – One of the most memorable parts of a wedding reception is the dancing. The simple act brings families and friends together while allowing them to celebrate a couple’s new commitment to one another. But, our nation’s capital is now banning such scandalous activities at weddings, including simply standing, for fear it will spread COVID-19.
On Monday, April 5, the District of Columbia released an update on its handling of the coronavirus pandemic with updated guidelines for ceremonies and meetings. It indicated that weddings, whether indoors or outdoors, must be capped at 25% capacity and have a waiver if there are more than 250 guests. In addition, the mayor’s office says guests must remain seated the entire time.
American Ben Owen highlighted how this new rule is causing many couples to move their weddings last minute:

The new rules made news this week as the office of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said the dancing ban would provide extra safety for guests. DC is not alone in this decision, as Illinois and Michigan have similar dancing bans imposed on high school proms and weddings.
As many Americans are now fully vaccinated or have had the virus themselves, the end of the pandemic seems to be near. So, perhaps these governments should minimize their party planning and instead focus on getting their economies back on track.
