Democrats Give Up On Trying To Pass This Immigration Bill

Democrats Surrender: They Won’t Pass It

( – Democrats have been determined to get immigration reform passed through Congress and onto the president’s desk since Biden took office. Despite their best efforts to slip an amnesty deal into a budget reconciliation package, the Left hasn’t been able to get it done. In a rare admittance of defeat, liberals are now seemingly giving up on passing their immigration bill.

Senators on both sides of the political spectrum are currently negotiating a budget reconciliation package that would only need a simple majority to pass, not requiring 60 votes to overcome the filibuster. Meanwhile, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) admitted there would be no amnesty for undocumented individuals in the final draft. In a tweet, Sahil Kapur of NBC noted that when someone asked Durbin if the reconciliation package would include immigration reform, the Democrat responded with a stern, “no.”

The Left spent the better part of 2021 attempting to slip amnesty in but failed again and again. Just last month, Sens. Durbin and Thom Tillis (R-NC) were discussing possibly including the measure; Tillis even reportedly mentioned the talks were still ongoing.

Another plan regarding undocumented individuals working on American farms that Republicans and Democrats agreed on would give green cards to an estimated 2.1 million illegal immigrants. Supporters of the plan have acknowledged that they’re running out of time before the August recess to get it passed.

Although it’s likely to fail, House Democrats are also pushing for a daily “rolling” plan in which millions of undocumented aliens would receive green cards annually by altering a registry date in the federal government’s immigration policy.

Opponents fear any amnesty would offer illegal aliens rights without following the appropriate channels, in effect distorting immigration law. Others see the move as just another potential issue because they feel immigrants are the source of too many other problems in the country and don’t want to encourage more unsanctioned border crossings.
