Democrats Looking to Change Their Tune After Senate Setback

( – After anticipating a sweeping majority in the Senate after Election Day, Democrats find themselves needing two more seats in order to get a 50-50 split. After losing so many seats to Republicans in the House, some moderate Democrat senators hope to change their party’s rhetoric to secure the final two Senate seats that are up for grabs.

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) encouraged his party to use Joe Biden’s message as a “template” for their campaigns. He thinks that because Biden presumably won the popular vote, most Americans can get behind his policies.

But, the only Democratic Senator to lose his re-election campaign, Doug Jones (D-AL), had another idea of how the party should restructure, shared by outspoken House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY):

If Democrats want any hope of gaining the Senate, they will have to reign in their liberal stances to win over moderate voters. The Georgia special elections will be held on January 5, 2021. Until then, both parties will be pouring money into the state in hopes of taking the Senate majority.
