Democrats Mobilize To Defend Biden Administration From Republican Attacks

( – In the wake of flipping the House red, the GOP is now focusing its efforts on investigating both the Biden family and the “weaponization” of the federal government. Republicans have established a new subcommittee to address the latter. Now, it seems the Democrats have some plans of their own.

In response to the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, the White House has been working to counteract Republican efforts. The counsel’s office has created a rapid response team that is aimed at addressing upcoming hearings before they occur. It also plans to deal with correspondence and subpoenas essentially as they happen.

Additionally, Democrats who have oversight authority plan to work against the GOP in real time at the hearings. They had the opportunity to enact their strategy recently just prior to the first hearing of the weaponization subcommittee, when they sent out publications fact-checking various GOP claims about the Department of Justice and FBI.

These efforts have largely flown under the radar by design. But they aren’t coming solely from within.

Former spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Brad Woodhouse is now a member of the Congressional Integrity Project, a group that has its own “war room” that consists of 15 people. In a statement to The Hill, he said they plan to “make [Republicans] pay a political price” because the GOP has “admitted these investigations are purely about politics.” The group will do so by acting in true campaign fashion by fact-checking and attacking statements coming from the Right. Facts First USA is another organization launched with the sole mission of countering GOP narratives.

The Democrats’ aim by forming the rapid response team is to free up the administration to carry out President Joe Biden’s agenda.

According to The Hill, as far as the Right’s response, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) invited them to do their best with a short, yet succinct statement: “If they want to defend the indefensible, then more power to them.”
