(AmericanProsperity.com) – As Russia continues to assault Ukraine, many people speculate it’s only a matter of time before the Kremlin overwhelms the smaller country and puts an end to the fighting. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians have lost their lives as Western leaders, such as President Joe Biden, condemn Russia’s actions but haven’t done much else. Many world leaders fear interfering could spark a third world war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed these fears.

During an interview with Scott Pelley on CBS’s 60 Minutes, Zelenskyy insisted the countries not getting involved in the conflict are responsible for the bloodshed and loss Ukraine has experienced. The Ukrainian President compared the situation to Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939, claiming the countries that turned their backs on the bloodshed were responsible for what followed as well.
Zelenskyy admitted that a large reason countries are avoiding getting involved is the fear of starting World War III, asserting these are rational fears. Pelley asked Zelenskyy if he believed the world was putting the possibility of nuclear war over the safety and sovereignty of Ukrainians, to which the leader made clear that he did. Zelenskyy accused the West and other countries refusing to get involved of using nuclear conflict as an excuse to not help his country.
Zelenskyy added that even now, no one knows what Russia will do next. He explained that President Vladimir Putin is unpredictable, and Russia would only become more powerful and incalculable the farther they moved into Europe.
