DOJ Told Probing Donald Trump Will Result in a “Political War”

(AmericanProsperity.com) – The House January 6 Committee (J6C) is coming to a conclusion on its investigation of former President Trump. The J6C is expected to submit a referral to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to prosecute the former president. Republicans are warning against such actions, citing serious consequences.

Republicans from both chambers of Congress are warning Democrats and the DOJ that any prosecution of Trump would likely result in a political battle.

Despite experts claiming there’s enough evidence to motivate prosecutors to act, members of the GOP are coming forward to discredit the investigation and explain that charging of the former president would appear to be politically driven. Republicans also mentioned that indicting Trump would only boost his status among the GOP, further the partisan divide and essentially spark a political civil war at a time when Biden is attempting to unite the country.

Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) claimed at least half of America would see pursuing this path as politically motivated. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) asserted the DOJ has a high bar to get over before it can investigate the former president, citing the controversy of the J6C’s formation.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had rejected House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) nominations for the committee, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN). Instead, she implemented Republicans who were strictly on her side regarding Trump, Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). The move amplified the committee’s partisan stench.

Tillis added that Democrats are going to see the referral as a conviction while Republicans will see it as a sequel to the witch hunt against Trump. Experts are concerned that if the DOJ indicts Trump, it could backfire on Democrats due to the political motivation behind the investigation.

Jim McLaughlin, a Republican pollster, noted that everyone is upset about what happened on January 6, 2021, but that the country wants to move on. He explained people are going to notice that with all the problems the US is facing, this is what Democrats chose to focus on instead of fixing more pressing issues.
