(AmericanProsperity.com) – In May of 2013, Edward Snowden fled the United States to avoid prosecution for leaking top-secret information during his tenure working for the CIA. The whistleblower had an extensive history of raising the alarm over NSA surveillance on American citizens in post-9/11 America. Now, over eight years after running, Snowden is about to walk the world as a free man again finally.

On Wednesday, September 29th, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that the NSA acted unlawfully when engaging in many of the actions Snowden reported on. This includes the operation of at least one warrantless telephone dragnet to harvest millions of American telephone records. The unconstitutional undertakings violated America’s Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).
Snowden quickly responded on Twitter:
The Supreme Court once said, "It is difficult for the People to accept what they are prohibited from observing.”
That’s why I blew the whistle in the first place: the public has a right to know decisions that redefine the territory of their rights.https://t.co/f2p3FBaMjU

It remains challenging to determine precisely how the Ninth Court ruling will impact the exiled whistleblower, who now lives with his wife and children in Russia. At the very least, it vindicates him while making it far more challenging for US intelligence agencies to paint him in a negative light. It just might eventually allow him to return home, too.
