FBI Admits It Doesn't Track Violence By Antifa or BLM

(AmericanProsperity.com) – The FBI’s Assistant Director of Counterterrorism Timothy Langan made a shocking disclosure during a House Civil Rights and Civil Liberties hearing on Wednesday, September 29. He says the intelligence agency doesn’t really focus on ANTIFA or its involvement in large-scale riots throughout 2020.

During the hearing, Langan told Nancy Mace (R-SC) the FBI does sometimes identify people associated with ANTIFA who have participated in violent acts. But the agency allegedly refrains from collecting information about the group as a whole, focusing on the actions of individual anarchists instead.

FBI Director Christopher Wray previously described ANTIFA as an ideology back in mid-September. Langan claims this designation renders it impossible for the agency to classify ANTIFA as an official terrorist organization.

It isn’t difficult to envision the problem associated with this line of thinking. By the same logic, one could surmise that Al-Qaeda isn’t a terrorist group either.

Mace continued to press for information about far-left activists arrested by the FBI for anti-government behavior. Rather than giving a straightforward answer, Langan reiterated that the FBI does not pool information about ANTIFA’s actions.

This seemingly purposeful “blind eye” to leftist extremist groups could give Republicans powerful ammunition for the 2022 midterms. Yet, it also raises the question of whether the FBI applies a fair and even hand to all forms of extremism. Is this an acceptable approach or yet another agency oversight?
