FBI Caught Using Spy Techniques to Target Americans

(AmericanProsperity.com) – A newly released whistleblower document shows that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) may have been spying on Americans. Early in October, Attorney General Merrick Garland testified before Congress, but the new documents contradict his testimony.

The internal email that the FBI whistleblower handed over to House Republicans had directed counterterrorism agents to keep an eye on threats to teachers, staff, and school board members to determine if they violated federal law. The email, signed by the FBI assistant director for counterterrorism, Timothy Langan, indicates that the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, in combination with the Criminal Division, created tags for official use.

The email requested agents to use “EDUOFFICIALS” to tag threats and determine whether a threat contained any federal violations that the bureau could investigate and charge. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), a ranking House Judiciary Committee member, believes Attorney General Garland willingly misled the committee. Jordan pointed to an exchange between Garland and Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) in which he accused the Department of Justice of treating parents as domestic terrorists and utilizing Patriot Act powers to spy on them. Garland, at the time, denied the accusations.

GOP House Judiciary Committee members claim the FBI uses counterterrorism tools to investigate parents, as shown in the whistleblower’s email. Just a few days after the National School Boards Association (NSBA) told President Biden that the actions were equivalent to domestic terrorism and asked the DOJ whether the Patriot Act could apply, Garland sent his directive to the FBI. Garland admitted to communicating with the White House about the NSBA before sending his memo.
