(AmericanProsperity.com) – On March 10, 2021, a panel convened at Yale University to discuss issues of free speech. In response, a rowdy group consisting of hundreds of students staged a protest so loud and obnoxious it disrupted activities throughout an entire campus building. Now, Washington, D.C. Circuit Judge Laurence Silberman is speaking out against those protesters, urging other judges to consider banning Yale Law students who participated in the melee from federal clerkships.
Hosted by Yale’s Federalist Society, the event showcased two groups with opposing views with the intent of highlighting that even a conservative Christian and a progressive atheist can find common ground on basic American rights like the 1st Amendment. The protestors, aimed at the conservative members of the panel, chanted, screamed, stomped their feet, and shouted obscenities.
A federal judge has encouraged all of his colleagues to "carefully consider" whether the Yale Law School students who attempted to shout down a bipartisan panel on free speech "should be disqualified from potential clerkships."

Now, those students could face consequences not just at school, but in their careers. Judge Silberman, in an email to every federal judge in the country, took notice of the actions of the students, urging his colleagues to consider their blatant attacks on free speech before handing them positions in a federal court.
Incidentally, Judge Laurence Silberman just sent this email to the listservs for all Article III judges in the United States. https://t.co/kfoyQGIGqW pic.twitter.com/TyM0xVhVHo

The Twitter thread has a collection of replies from some federal judges, with some agreeing and others dissenting. What do you think? Should the students be barred from holding federal clerking jobs?
