(AmericanProsperity.com) – The Supreme Court has shocked the nation with its latest ruling: the gag order on President-elect Donald Trump in his New York criminal case will remain in place.
Justice Samuel Alito handed down, and its implications for First Amendment rights have been labeled chilling.
The gag order, imposed by Judge Juan Merchan, restricts Trump from making statements about jurors, court staff and their families in relation to his conviction on 34 felony counts.
These charges stem from a politically motivated witch hunt regarding alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.
This decision marks the second time that the Supreme Court has upheld these strict restrictions on Trump’s speech this year.
Trump’s legal team has argued that these remaining restrictions infringe on his First Amendment rights.
🚨Supreme Court Won't Lift Gag Order on Donald Trump
Trump is prohibited from speaking about jurors, witnesses, prosecutors, court staff or members of their family.

The President-elect’s attorneys also cited Joe Biden in the ongoing litigation. Biden said his son was “selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted” and that “raw politics has infected this process” before issuing a sweeping pardon.
Trump’s legal team rightfully argued that the same principle was applicable to the criminal case in New York.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey had previously attempted to challenge the gag order on behalf of the state’s voters, recognizing the broader implications of this assault on free speech.
The timing of this gag order is particularly suspect, coming as it does while Judge Merchan considers arguments on whether the Trump case should be dismissed on immunity grounds.
This delay in sentencing, coupled with the gag order, seems designed to keep Trump on the defensive and limit his ability to rally support among his base.
