(AmericanProsperity.com) – As the jury begins their debate in the trial of police officer Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd, many cities are bracing for the potential protests that could follow the verdict. But, Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) is not looking to support a fair trial by one’s peers or the right to peaceful protests. Instead, she’s made a rally cry to likely protesters in Minneapolis.
On the evening of Saturday, April 17, Waters marched in Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis. When speaking with reporters, she declared that “we’ve got to stay in the streets” and “demand justice.” In addition, she noted the protestors are “looking for a guilty verdict.” These words are asking protestors to disrupt the city’s roads and pressuring the jury to sway what should be a solely facts-based decision.
In response, GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to charge Waters with inciting violence:
Maxine Waters is inciting violence in Minneapolis — just as she has incited it in the past. If Speaker Pelosi doesn’t act against this dangerous rhetoric, I will bring action this week.
— Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) April 19, 2021
While it’s part of human nature to desire to bring justice ourselves, it’s vital that all Americans trust in our justice system, which has been tried again and again to charge those who are guilty of crimes and let those go free who have established reasonable doubt of the alleged crimes.
