GOP Rep Proves Biden Was Aware Afghanistan Would Collapse

(AmericanProsperity.com) – According to a Fox News Tuesday report, Republican California Representative Darrell Issa said the Afghanistan dissent cable was embarrassing. He also said this one debunks the White House’s narrative that it didn’t know that the Middle Eastern country could collapse in 2021. This is a delicate situation as it implies that the Biden administration was fully aware of the crisis that could erupt after the US withdrawal.

During an interview with Fox News, Issa, who is also part of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said he was the first member to watch the channel cable. This one was provided by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who gave the House of Representatives full access to it. This dissent channel cable shows the communications between Washington and the American Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul.

Issa said that the document, which was signed by 23 diplomats and staffers clearly warned that the Taliban could quickly advance if the United States left Afghanistan. The California Republican explained that US President Joe Biden and many of his top officials made a terrible mistake by downplaying these claims.

Issa also told Fox News that the cable revealed that the State Department didn’t expect any “sustainability” in Afghanistan or the Middle East. He also said that the document showed how the State Department knew that the Taliban would get the US military weapons and equipment they left behind.

Moreover, Issa pointed out that the cable initially went out on July 13th, 2021, but received a response on July 20th. This was a week later, with Afghanistan officially falling under the hand of the Taliban less than a month after. On this issue, Issa said that every prediction noted on the cable “came through,” including the total collapse of Afghanistan’s armed forces.

Finally, Issa said that his next action will be trying to declassify the document. He said he wants to do this so the families of US service members who died during the withdrawal can know everything that happened.
