(AmericanProsperity.com) – Across the country, gun stores have been exempted from business closures and gun sales surged to record highs in March. According to FBI data, over 2 million firearms were sold throughout the month. Background checks also skyrocketed with gun sales and those numbers are just as staggering.
In March, 3.7 million background checks were conducted, the highest total since the program began in 1998. Nationwide, there were 1.1 million more in March 2020 compared to the same time last year.
March 21 alone set a new one-day record with 210,000 background checks. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Michigan and Alabama saw over a 200% increase. The lines at gun shops clearly demonstrated this renewed interest in firearm purchases.

The state with the most sales was Illinois with 500,000. Texas, Kentucky, Florida, and California followed closely behind. Shops across the country reported they couldn’t keep up with the demand for guns and ammunition.
According to Hyatt Guns, one of the nation’s biggest firearms manufacturers, new buyers made up the majority of purchases. It appears that Americans are exercising their 2nd Amendment right to own a firearm and protect themselves, their families, and their property. Who can blame them for doing so during this crisis?
