(AmericanProsperity.com) – After a raging fire shook its foundations in 2019, Notre Dame Cathedral is set for a glorious resurrection.

Millions of dollars and international support brought the landmark back to life, and now the cathedral stands ready for its faithful to witness history once more.

On April 15, 2019, Notre Dame Cathedral’s roof and spire required a thorough reconstruction after flames destroyed them.

The fire prompted a global rally of support, raising nearly $60 million from international donors. Some of the most significant contributions came from donors in the United States.

The reopening event, scheduled for December 7 and 8, 2024, was made possible by the massive €500 million donations to the challenging restoration project.

The restoration process combined medieval construction techniques and modern safety features like sprinkler systems.

Nonprofit organization The Friends of Notre-Dame de Paris spearheaded the international fundraising efforts.

Hundreds of specialist artisans and nearly 2,000 workers were involved in the ambitious project, which celebrates both historic artistry and contemporary creations.

In response to the reopening news, Archbishop Laurent Ulrich of Paris said, “We are going to recover the focal point of our life as a church.”

The inaugural Mass on December 8 will happen alongside the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, marking a spiritual rebirth for the faithful.

The reopening will be broadcast worldwide and feature a ceremony complemented by Masses, concerts, and other events.

President Emmanuel Macron is expected to deliver a speech in front of the cathedral before the ceremony. However, Pope Francis will not be attending the event.

The restoration went better than expected, improving the lighting inside Notre Dame with cleaned limestone and a new system.

As a result, visitors will “see Notre Dame Cathedral as we’ve never seen it before,” according to the cathedral secretary general Olivier Josse.

The cathedral expects 14 to 15 million visitors each year, with a new online ticketing system in place to handle the high demand.

Some restoration work will continue to ensure Notre Dame’s legacy for generations to come.
