(AmericanProsperity.com) – Kamala Harris, Vice President and Democratic President nominee, has benefited from a pause from activists that were frustrated with the Biden Administration’s way of handling the war in Gaza.
Protestors headed to Chicago to voice their outrage of the Biden administration’s approach to the Israel-Gaza war and the continuous fighting. Many protests are expected to reemerge, including those on college campuses as school starts up.
June Rose, a delegate from Rhode Island, said, “In the wake of a mass shooting, Democratic leaders are quick to say, ‘thoughts and prayers are not enough.’ I agree. As vice president, Harris takes a more empathetic tone we say the same to her.”
Rose continued, “We need meaningful policy change. We need an immediate, permanent cease-fire and an arms embargo.”
The change in the democratic nominee from the current president Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris has been a step in the right direction. Harris has changed the tone from Biden’s original plans and demeanor regarding the war to put more emphasis on the Palestinian civilians suffering amid the war in Gaza.
There have been over forty thousand deaths since October of last year when the war in Gaza started. The emphasis on those suffering and the families that are stuck in the middle of the war are a top concern for many protestors, so Harris’ change of heart in focusing on that is essential to calming these protests.
Many of the concerns around what’s happening in Gaza have stopped people from being fully supportive of Harris and what she’s doing in her campaign. Once she calms the nerves of protestors and explains the plan for the war, there may be more support on her side.
However, for now it seems she hasn’t broken from Biden regarding the policy of the war, and it may take more than a tone shift to win over protestors and those opposed to the war.
