(AmericanProsperity.com) – A devastating disaster struck the city of Zhuhai in southern China when a man brutally slaughtered 35 innocent civilians and injured dozens more because he was angry.
Specifically, a 62-year-old man identified only by his surname Fan deliberately drove his car into a crowd at a sports complex, leaving a trail of death and destruction.
The attack happened during the People’s Liberation Army’s annual aviation exhibition.
Fan, who was reportedly upset over his divorce settlement, was arrested by authorities and is being treated for self-inflicted wounds.
Although the Chinese government rushed to control and censor the narrative, videos of the tragic aftermath have managed to circulate on social media platform X.
In a typical display of Communist rhetoric, President Xi Jinping has called for “all-out efforts” to treat the injured and punish the perpetrator “in accordance with the law.”
Jinping also said the country needed “to strengthen prevention and control of risks at the source, strictly prevent extreme cases from occurring, and to resolve conflicts and disputes in a timely manner.”
However, his words do little to address the root causes of such violent outbursts in Chinese society.
The sports complex, which is a popular location for residents to engage in activities like running, playing soccer or dancing, has been closed indefinitely.
While the Chinese government claims that violent crime is rare in their country, recent events tell a different story.
There has been an alarming rise in knife attacks in large cities, with similar incidents reported in Beijing, Shanghai and Yunnan province.
