(AmericanProsperity.com) – New technology from the company Sceye could potentially bridge the gap of internet connection issues and high speed internet access.
Many people have dealt with losing internet access while camping or even just living in a remote area. With the reliance on the internet for many, this can be a huge issue, and it can be frustrating, but this company is trying to change this.
The Sceye HAPS is a two hundred foot long unscrewed helium blimp that is designed to go through the stratosphere over sixty thousand feet in the air. The purpose of this blimp is to bring high speed internet access to areas that traditional internet cannot reach.
The Sceye HAPS is fully solar powered and is covered with solar cells made of gallium selenide and gallium arsenide to make a “solar cape”. This allows it to harbor the sun’s energy and stay afloat for months on end. The solar power allows for this flying blimp to provide continuous and uninterrupted internet access.
It’s already covered eighty seven miles, a record while maintaining a data connection. It is able to connect over vast distances which shows the potential to revolutionize internet access to remote or underserved areas.
Providing internet access is a key function, but it will also be used for climate or environmental monitoring, forest fire protection, disaster response, and tracking or measuring methane emissions.
The blimp boasts some impressive technological advancements and stays airborne at night since during the day it can charge its batteries.
It’s already taken over twenty test flights and a commercial deployment is currently scheduled for next year.
