(AmericanProsperity.com) – In a shocking finding, scientists have discovered a 50,000-year-old baby woolly mammoth in Siberia’s “Mouth of Hell” crater.

The mammoth, named Yana, is the best-preserved mammoth ever found.

It was discovered in the Batagai megaslump, a quickly expanding thermokarst depression in Russia’s Yakutia region.

Although she was just one year old when she died, Yana stood 4 feet tall and weighed around 400 pounds.

Her remarkable preservation has left scientists astounded as her head, trunk, lips, ears and even eye sockets are intact.

The Batagai crater, often called the “Mouth of Hell,” is a 330-foot-deep, 3,300-foot-long and 2,650-foot-wide sinkhole that emits up to 5,000 tons of organic carbon annually.

This natural phenomenon serves as a time capsule, preserving prehistoric remains that could hold the key to understanding our planet’s past and future.

“The examination showed that the head is uniquely preserved, as are all the organs,” said Lazarev Mammoth Museum laboratory head Maxim Cheprasov from North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk.

“We were all surprised by the exceptional preservation of the mammoth,” said university rector Anatoly Nikolayev.

This groundbreaking find is part of a series of discoveries in the Russian permafrost, including a prehistoric baby horse, a saber-tooth cat cub and a wolf carcass.

The exceptional preservation of Yana opens up exciting possibilities for scientific research.

Major tests are planned for the coming year, which could provide insights into mammoth development, adaptive traits and Ice Age environmental conditions.

“The locals happened to be at Batagaika at the right time and noticed that the mammoth calf had partially thawed from the wall, about [130 feet] below the surface,” expressed laboratory head Maxim Cheprasov.
