Huge Recall Across 31 States

Yellow sign with RECALL text against blue sky.

(AmericanProsperity.com) – In an alarming development, one of America’s largest supermarket chains has been forced to recall a staggering 24,072 units of its food items across 31 states.

The recall comes as yet another blow to hardworking American families already struggling with skyrocketing grocery prices and food shortages.

The affected brand is The Kroger Co., which saw products like its Home Chef Chicken Street Tacos threatening American households.

A potential listeria contamination triggered the recall, extending beyond just tacos.

It also includes popular meal kits like Pancho Chicken Quesadilla and Green Chili Chicken Enchilada.

The root cause of this widespread contamination has been traced back to chicken produced by BrucePac, a supplier involved in a previous large-scale meat recall.

“The product may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes and, if eaten, could result in severe illness to those individuals who are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.” The Kroger Co. stated.

The Food and Drug Administration’s handling of this crisis raises eyebrows. Initially, it classified the situation as a Class I risk—the highest level—but later downgraded it to a Class II alert.

Listeria monocytogenes is no joke. It is the third leading cause of death from food-related illnesses in the United States, claiming approximately 260 lives annually.

The bacteria pose a particularly grave threat to pregnant women, potentially causing miscarriages, stillbirths or life-threatening infections in newborns.

Additionally, the FDA added that it “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”

The recall affects a whopping 31 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Consumers are advised to check their refrigerators and freezers for these potentially deadly products.

This recall is just the latest in a long line of food safety crises plaguing our nation. From contaminated vegetables to tainted meats, Americans must now stay alert on a daily basis.
