Husband Convicted of Murdering Wife After Fitbit Contradicts Testimony

Fitbit Solved a Murder?

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Typically when someone is murdered, one of the first suspects is their spouse. One husband thought he was going to get away with killing his wife. That was until a Fitbit blew up his testimony.

A 45-year-old man from Connecticut, Richard Dabate, testified that he had left for work just two days before Christmas but turned around after realizing he forgot his laptop. Dabate claimed that when he returned, there was a man dressed in camouflage who shot his wife, 39-year-old Connie Dabate, tied him to a chair, and cut him with a box cutter.

A good story if not for the fact investigators discovered her Fitbit activity tracker recorded her casually walking around an hour after Dabate claimed the phantom murderer killed her. According to Fox News, the jury didn’t take more than four hours to find the 45-year-old guilty on all the charges against him, which included the murder of his wife, tampering with physical evidence, and making a false statement to police.

The prosecuting attorney, Matthew Gedansky, believes Dabate killed his wife in an effort to avoid divorce after he got his mistress pregnant. The judge increased Mr. Debate’s bond from $1 million to $5 million. The husband-turned-murderer faces a minimum of 25 years behind bars.
