(AmericanProsperity.com) – President Donald Trump has confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is returning to its core mission after being sidelined by Democrats for four years.
Specifically, border czar Tom Homan led ICE to strike a massive blow against criminal activity in Massachusetts, arresting 370 illegal aliens in a sweeping six-day operation.
The raid has put behind bars dangerous gang members, drug traffickers, and child predators who had been allowed to roam free under the state’s sanctuary policies.
The operation was a coordinated effort between ICE and multiple federal agencies, including the FBI, DEA, ATF, DSS, and CBP.
Focusing on transnational organized crime, the sweep targeted members of violent gangs such as MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Trinitarios, and 18th Street–all criminal organizations that have been allowed to flourish in Massachusetts.
In a direct rebuke to liberal sanctuary policies, ICE arrested 205 individuals with significant criminal histories, including six foreign fugitives wanted for serious crimes like murder and drug trafficking.
Many arrests came after Massachusetts jurisdictions had refused to honor immigration detainer requests, intentionally releasing dangerous criminal aliens back into communities.
The operation yielded a massive haul of deadly drugs and weapons: around 44 kilograms of methamphetamines, 5 kilograms of fentanyl, 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, and three firearms with ammunition.
These dangerous items would have fueled addiction, violence, and death throughout New England communities.
“These arrests included 6 foreign fugitives, including four who were wanted for murder or to serve a criminal sentence for murder, along with drug traffickers, child sexual predators and numerous other violent public safety threats,” Homan revealed.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston Acting Director Patricia Hyde was clear about the mission’s impact.
She stated: “The Commonwealth is a safer place for our residents to live and work because ICE and our federal law enforcement partners arrested hundreds of alien offenders and removed them from the streets of Massachusetts.”
Homan directly criticized Massachusetts’ sanctuary policies during the operation, highlighting how these liberal policies have hindered ICE operations and compromised public safety.
An investigation confirmed Homan’s accusations, finding multiple instances where Massachusetts authorities had released violent criminal aliens despite active ICE detainers.
U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts Leah B. Foley also spoke harshly about the situation.
She said, “Everyone should agree that we cannot and will not tolerate individuals who not only violate our immigration laws but then commit crimes that endanger our communities. Those who enter and remain in this country unlawfully are breaking the law.”
At the same time, liberal officials rushed to defend their failed policies. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu claimed the city remains safe despite evidence to the contrary,
Meanwhile, Governor Maura Healey denied that Massachusetts was a sanctuary state despite its refusal to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
The ACLU of Massachusetts also criticized the operation and called for more protections for illegal aliens rather than for law-abiding citizens.
By targeting the most dangerous illegal aliens and working around obstructionist sanctuary policies, federal authorities have demonstrated their commitment to public safety and the rule of law.
