Democrats Open The Floodgates To Criminals
(AmericanProsperity.com) – Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) signed HB 3653, or the Pretrial Fairness Act, despite the opposition against it last year in February. The legislation’s passage means Illinois will become the first state in the union to completely eliminate cash bails. Now thousands of inmates, even murderers, will walk free.

While Governor Pritzker signed the bill in the early months of 2021, it won’t take effect until the beginning of 2023. Once the new year begins, county jails will have no choice but to release thousands of felons with pending convictions on charges of robbery, kidnapping, second-degree murder, arson, drug-induced homicide, intimidation, threatening a public official, aggravated fleeing, aggravated DUI, aggravated battery, and nearly all types of drug offenses.
According to The Center Square, Jim Glasgow, the District Attorney of Will County, claimed the bill will destroy the state. The DA explained he has 640 people currently on bail, 60 of whom are murderers, which the legislation will grant freedom on January 1. And those figures only reflect one of the 102 counties in Illinois. Glasgow encouraged voters in the state to support candidates who are willing to repeal the legislation.
Illinois might be the first in line to completely abolish cash bonds, but New York has taken similar steps in the same direction. Recently, the New York Post reported that violent crime in the Empire State has only increased. Will the same happen in the Land of Lincoln?
