(AmericanProsperity.com) – The outspoken coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders, seems to be in danger as he is facing an alarming reality off the field.
The latest “Coach Prime” season on Amazon Prime Video exposes the constant threats to Sanders’ safety and reveals the dark underbelly of college football’s intense fandom.
The docuseries pulls back the curtain on the intense security measures required to protect Sanders, particularly before a high-stakes game against Colorado State.
Sanders’ personal security officer Michael Rhodes gave a chilling glimpse into the challenges of safeguarding the controversial coach.
“I have to keep my head on a swivel, I have to keep my eyes open. I really have to watch the crowd, pay attention to everybody’s body language, facial expressions, hands, because everybody doesn’t love Coach…” Rhodes stated.
“With all of the death threats, I don’t know who is who. I’ve got one job, and that’s to make sure that Coach is good, to make sure he’s safe, so he can go out and coach the team to a victory,” he continued.
The extent of the threats against Sanders is alarming. Rhodes disclosed that Sanders receives a significant amount of mail daily, including death threats and hate mail.
These threats are not taken lightly as copies were sent to Boulder Police and the FBI for analysis. The security team greatly protects Sanders, even wearing gloves to open mail to avoid potential contact with hazardous materials.

Moreover, the situation reached a critical point before the Colorado State game on September 14, when multiple credible threats were received.
Rhodes revealed, “There was a very credible threat — two individuals trying to possibly tackle Coach either before, during, or after the game.”
This situation led to unprecedented collaboration among multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Colorado State Patrol, Fort Collins Police, and Boulder Police, to ensure Sanders’ safety during the game.
Despite these challenges, Sanders remains resilient. Under his leadership, Colorado finished the 2024 season with a 9-4 record, a significant improvement from their 4-8 record in his first season.
The team made their first Bowl game appearance since 2020 and sold out every home game for two consecutive seasons, demonstrating Sanders’ ability to turn adversity into success.
In addition, the threats against Sanders highlight a disturbing trend in society, where successful and outspoken personalities become targets for hate and violence.
As viewers dive into the complexities of Sanders’ career, the series offers insights beyond the public’s typical understanding of a coach’s struggles.
“Coach Prime” does more than entertain; it enlightens audiences about the intricate world that Sanders must navigate, which is filled with both opportunities and perils and challenges Americans’ expectations of leadership in the modern age.
