Pelosi Retirement UPDATE – The Time Is Now
(AmericanProsperity.com) – Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Speaker of the House, has spent nearly two decades leading the Democratic caucus in the US House of Representatives. Democrats in the lower chamber of Congress are beginning once again to disapprove of their leader. However, Pelosi now faces far greater challenges than poor approval numbers. Perhaps the time has come for her to retire.

A recent poll from Morning Consult shows that a majority of registered voters believe Pelosi should make room for someone else among Democratic leaders to step into her role. Still, just under half of the Democrats who responded to the poll feel she should keep her position. Of course, it doesn’t matter what the numbers say; what counts is whether or not Democrats lose the House following the midterm elections.
The lingering support for the left-leaning leader shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, Pelosi has led House Democrats since 2003, when she first stepped up as House Minority Leader. The public servant went on to become Speaker of the House for the first time in 2007. In 2011, she reprised her role as House Minority Leader, then once again became Speaker in 2019. The move made Pelosi the first person to return to the role since the 1950s — in addition to being the first woman ever to serve as Speaker of the House and the first female to lead either political party.
Her future is unclear, though it appears Democrats are expecting heavy losses in the midterms, meaning that Pelosi won’t likely be the Speaker of the House moving forward. Given her age, she may choose to retire from politics altogether.
