(AmericanProsperity.com) – Vice President JD Vance delivered a powerful message to immigrants: if you decided to come to America, you must pledge loyalty.
During a recent address, Vance urged those who come to the United States to abandon previous national loyalties and fully embrace American interests as their top priority.
His straight talk on assimilation resonated with Americans who are concerned about divided loyalties that undermined national unity.
The vice president pulled no punches when addressing immigrant responsibilities in their adopted homeland.
He emphasized that part of the bargain when coming to America includes leaving behind conflicting loyalties that could compromise American interests.
Vance characterized it as “offensive” for immigrants to use their influence in the United States to try and settle conflicts in their countries of origin.
The vice president pointed to a personal encounter from his 2022 Senate campaign, where he faced criticism from a Ukrainian-American upset about Vance’s stance on the Ukraine conflict.
“During my senate campaign in 2022, I met a Ukrainian-American man in NE Ohio. He was very angry about my views on the conflict, and my desire to bring it to a rapid close. You are trying to abandon my country, and I don’t like it,” Vance recounted.
Vance’s response was unequivocal: “Sir, I replied, ‘your country is the United States of America, and so is mine.'”
This exchange perfectly captures the America First approach that has become central to the Trump-Vance administration’s philosophy.
While respecting cultural heritage, the administration expects immigrants to prioritize America’s interests above all else.
This America First stance has been particularly evident in the administration’s approach to the Ukraine conflict.
Vance has been critical of the previous administration’s blank-check approach to Ukraine funding, instead pushing for solutions that benefit Americans.
While acknowledging that “Vladimir Putin is the bad guy in this situation,” Vance has consistently advocated for ending the conflict quickly rather than perpetuating an endless money drain on American resources.
Under the Trump-Vance leadership, the administration is reshaping how America engages with international conflicts.
Rather than simply pouring money into foreign wars, they are pursuing a fresh strategy to secure American access to Ukraine’s valuable mineral resources as part of any peace settlement.
Diplomatic efforts are already underway, with U.S. representatives meeting with Russian counterparts in Saudi Arabia to discuss ending the conflict.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit Washington to discuss both conflict resolution and the proposed mineral deal – a clear indication that the Trump-Vance approach is yielding results.
Vance has been careful to express gratitude toward immigrants who prioritize American interests, noting he has met many Ukrainian Americans who share his perspective on putting America first.
While some Ukrainian activists in Ohio have criticized Vance’s position, many Americans appreciate his clear-eyed approach to national loyalty.
