Mumford & Sons Co-Founder Comes To JK Rowling’s Defense
(AmericanProsperity.com) – Author J. K. Rowling found herself under a sudden and intense attack from far-left activists in June 2020, after she made a comment defending biological women. But while many people jumped on the cancel-culture bandwagon, some prominent names leapt forward to stand in solidarity with the writer. Among them, a co-founder of the music group Mumford & Sons recently came to Rowling’s defense.

Winston Marshall, who co-founded and played banjo for the iconic folk-rock band, empathizes with Rowling. He’s also felt the sting of the woke mob, having become the subject of attacks after defending Andy Ngo’s debut book, “Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy.” The musician had called the writer “a brave man,” prompting the backlash. A few months later, the banjo player left Mumford & Sons. He went on to launch the “Marshall Matters” Podcast with a new purpose: “explore the taboo and totemic issues within the creative industries.”
Fox News reported that Marshall called the far-Left’s treatment of Rowling “outrageous” and “despicable.” The musician and podcaster pointed to the many efforts the novelist has made to bolster the LGBTQ+ community, only for her words to become twisted into something hateful.
Rowling has stood by her words. Glamour shared one of her statements defending her stance: “If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased.” She notes we should be able to show compassion toward the trans community while also honoring what it means to live in this society as a biological female.
