The judge added that it was the first time she sentenced a minor to register as a sex offender and said he “needed a lot of help.”
According to the Daily Wire, Judge Brooks said she had read a lot of psychological reports, and after reading this, she said, “frankly, it scared me. It scared me for you, it scared me for society.”
The teenager was previously found “not innocent” by the Loudoun County Juvenile Courts and charged with forcible sodomy and forcible fellatio against a female student back on May 28 at Stone Bridge High School.
The young man also pleaded “no contest” on a different case and faced abduction and sexual battery charges of an underage female student at Broad Run High School back on October 6. He accepted a plea deal and was sentenced on Wednesday for those crimes.
After sentencing, the teen stood crying before the judge, saying he would never do anything like this again. The young man looked back at his parents and waved before being led out of the courtroom.
Loudoun County Sheriff Michael Chapman places the blame for the October 6 assault squarely on Superintendent Scott Zieglar. He said he knew about the May 28 assault and did nothing about it, allowing the teen to continue attending class. Chapman also accuses the school district of trying to hide the incident, which it denies.
During the victim impact statements, one of the victims said she hoped the teen received help and “not a jail cell.” Another victim read a prepared statement saying, “What you did to me will forever change my life.”
The teenager’s mother made a statement about the teen’s sentencing, saying she was “gracious” he was spared jail time but disagreed with the lifetime sex offender registry. She said the sentence was nothing more than a political move by the judge and bound his hands forever. She added, “I am ashamed people in the courtroom today consider that justice.”
